About Our Farm
Peter and Carol Ferrante moved to New Paltz and founded Wallkill View
Farm in 1960. In the early 1970's their five teenage sons started selling the
farm's fresh produce directly to the public from a covered wagon. Their venture
was so successful that in 1976, Wallkill View Farm Market was built at its
current location. In the following years, additions were created to accommodate
the growing farm market. An attached greenhouse was added and soon following,
another free-standing greenhouse erected to keep up with the expansive garden
center. A covered pole building was built where we showcase seasonal items
like flowers and soils in the Spring and Summer, pumpkins, gourds and a hay
tunnel in the Fall, and Christmas trees, wreaths and kissing balls in the Winter.
A bakery was also added where you can find all kinds of treats like pies,
muffins, scones, cinnamon buns, cookies, breads and our famous apple cider donuts,
all baked fresh daily. As the business grew, so did the Ferrante family. In the early 1990's
Peter and Carol Ferrante's grand-children began working at the farm market,
taking an interest in everything from helping Carol in the bakery to working with
Peter in the greenhouses. Today Wallkill View Farm Market is a partnership
among Peter, Carol, and their sons Peter, Rob, Sande and Tim. Any time you stop
by you are sure to see any number of Peter and Carol's three
daughters-in-law, Linda, Lisa and Mary-Beth or ten grand-children, Danica, Lindsay, Marinna,
Nicole, Carleigh, Jordan, Kristin, Peter, John and Jamie, helping out around
the farm.
